Happy New Year! On behalf of everyone at Helios Ed, we hope your 2024 is off to a wonderful start!
The start of a new year offers a fresh start and opportunities for continued growth for you, and all members of your team. Often, this growth comes from courageous conversations.
In our latest webinar, Brian Juarez of our Partnership Success team spoke with Jonathon Brunson as he shared guidance as educational leaders engage in courageous conversations. Jonathon was the assistant superintendent of HR in Milpitas USD. He has served in five school districts in Northern California as a teacher, assistant principal, principal and in HR for 9 years. He has always been guided by the principles of service leadership and by doing what’s best for students.
This webinar was about challenging current practices, fostering improvement and growth, and providing feedback that will lead to improvements in student achievement and well-being.
What is a Courageous Conversation?
While many leaders may feel nervous, or even avoid tough conversations, these conversations are critical. It offers a time to provide feedback and share opportunities for growth. A courageous conversation is when a leader takes control of a situation by confidently and courageously embracing a difficult conversation.
If these discussions were simple, they would not be labeled by leaders as “hard conversations.” True success and teamwork can only be achieved through the art of a courageous conversation.
